Kozhikode: Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan responded to the criticism leveled by Prime Minister Narendra Modi against the state government during his visit to Kerala. The Chief Minister criticized that what the Prime Minister said against Kerala had nothing to do with reality and knowing the facts, the Prime Minister deliberately tried to belittle Kerala. The Chief Minister’s reaction was while speaking at the 75th anniversary program of Onchiam Martyrdom.

At the political event in Kochi and the official event in Thiruvananthapuram, the Prime Minister took two positions. In the official program to inaugurate the Kochi Water Metro, the Prime Minister said that Kerala is an example for the country and said that Kerala is lagging behind in many aspects in the political program in Kochi. The Chief Minister said that the Prime Minister himself should have checked how the people who listen to him will take things when he says things that are contrary to the facts.

The Chief Minister also asked if Modi’s criticism that Kerala has no plan to provide employment to the youth was checked against the current unemployment rate in the state. Even if a person like the Prime Minister is a part of political propaganda, what is being said should be facts. When the LDF came to power in 2016, the unemployment rate was 12 percent. But now it has come down to five percent. The Chief Minister asked if this is a figure that the Prime Minister cannot know.

The Chief Minister also mocked the Prime Minister’s statement that Kerala is being treated separately. The central government sent the bill to Kerala for flood rescue operations. Even the foodgrains given as aid were later asked for money. Does anyone do that? When people in foreign countries were willing to help during the crisis, the Center did not even allow them to go and buy it. Is this the special consideration of the Centre? Attempts were made to break even Kifbi and Co-operative Bank. The Chief Minister also criticized that the Center is suffocating Kerala by squeezing it economically.

AIIMS, Railway Medical College, Coach Factory and Sabari Railway are all unrealized and still remain Kerala’s dream. The discrimination and neglect Kerala is facing cannot be hidden just by giving a Vandebharat train. Kerala got only two trains in nine years. While 175 nursing colleges were sanctioned in the country, Kerala did not get a single one. The Chief Minister also asked if a government could show such neglect to the state, which has attracted international attention in the field of nursing.

The Chief Minister said that the problem of two-wheeler passengers will be resolved with the help of the central government on the AI camera issue. The Chief Minister alleged that Congress and BJP are trying to stop the project by creating a smoke screen.
