Thiruvananthapuram ∙ 7 Judicial Inquiry Commissions were appointed during the Pinarayi government. Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan gave a written reply in the Legislative Assembly that the judicial inquiry commission cost Rs 6,01,11,166 from the government exchequer. The highest amount was spent on the Justice PA Muhammad Judicial Commission of Inquiry. 2,77,44,814 rupees were spent by the Muhammad Commission. The Muhammad Commission was appointed to investigate the incident of lathi-charge by the police on June 20, 2016, when lawyers and media persons clashed in front of the High Court.
2 commissions have not even submitted their report to the government yet. A three-member commission of inquiry headed by former High Court judge CN Ramachandran Nair was appointed on March 7, 2020 to formulate norms and rules for purchases and contracts in the police department after the CAG discovered crores worth of purchases made in violation of rules in the police department during the tenure of former DGP Behra.

Even after three years, this commission has not yet given its report. 12,36,074 rupees was spent from the exchequer for the Ramachandran Commission. Former High Court judge VK Mohanan was appointed as a commission of inquiry on May 7, 2021 to check whether the investigations conducted by the central agencies on issues such as gold smuggling, dollar smuggling and Life Mission scam are illegal. Even after a year and a half, the Mohanan Commission has not given its report. The government spent Rs 83,76,489 for the Mohanan Commission.
