Pimem taxi drivers propose a single taxi station for Palma

The taxi drivers associated with Pimem promote the creation of a single taxi station for Palma, following the example of Calvià. The promoters of this initiative have already gathered more than 760 support signatures (which represents more than 60% of the licenses in Ciutat), which they will present today to the Mobility area of ​​the City Council.

Jordi Mora, president of Pimem, and Xisco Rigo, promoter of the initiative, explained yesterday that unifying the three current stations will lead to a “better management” and service of taxis in Palma, a sector that in this crisis has experienced a drop of 80% of your billing and that you face competition from VTC licenses.

According to Mora, this idea of ​​integrating the entire fleet of taxis on the same platform has the support of two employers, the Asociación Sindical Autónomos del Taxi de Mallorca (Asatam) and the Asociación Mallorquina de Autónomos del Taxi (Amtat), both partners. to Pimem, in addition to the two associations of residents of Palma.

Taxi drivers Alejandro Martínez, Manolo Muriano and Xisco Rigo reported that they have obtained more than 760 signatures to claim this unique station.

Rigo announced that a second meeting with the Mobility councilor, Francesc Dalmau, is scheduled today to address the legal possibilities of creating this platform. “The Palma taxi is a benchmark in Mallorca, but it would have to follow the Calvià model,” added the taxi driver.

Currently, there are three stations in Palma: Taxis Palma, with 600 taxi drivers attached; Radio Taxi, with another 200; and Taxi Telephone, with a hundred. The rest are not registered with any station, Pimem said yesterday.
