“We want to follow up the last four wins with another triumph. We respect the opponent’s strength, but we are going to present ourselves as at home with a pressing offensive game. We want to win,” Trousil is clear. The theme of not underestimating the Maltese opponent is in the cabin of Plzeň, which has already been defeated by a high ratio of 5:2 since the scalp of České Budějovice at the weekend.
“The best thing will be to score a goal right from the start and then add another,” reports midfielder Pavel Bucha. “We know it’s a Maltese team, but we approach everything with humility and absolutely seriously,” Trousil points out.

At home, the Victorians were steamroller better. Gzira footballers did almost nothing up front, they were inconsistent in defense, and even though they left with a heavy loss, they were even more merciful given the course of the duel.
After a lackluster start to the competition, Plzeň has at least fired up, scoring fourteen times in the last four matches. “The head works well when it is doing well and winning. Then you also regenerate better and tolerate fatigue,” explains Bucha. “Everything has changed since advancing through Drita, the boys have started to believe in it, we are scoring goals and going in the right direction,” agrees Trousil.
Plzeň already traveled to the rematch on Tuesday evening, so it has plenty of time for acclimatization. In addition, he flies home only on Friday. Trousil explains this step by saying that the coaches wanted the players to rest and sleep peacefully during the demanding schedule.
Evening transfer as well because of the great heat that prevails in Malta. Temperatures attack the tropical thirties even in the late hours. “We are used to the heat. We went through a period in preparation when it was very hot. Likewise during the last training session on Tuesday,” states Bucha.
A nineteen-member squad boarded the plane, but only with sixteen players in the field. Due to more or less serious injuries, Erik Jirka, Tomáš Chorý, Matěj Vydra, Jan Sýkora, Luděk Pernica, Milan Havel, Radim Řezník and Filip Čihák are missing.
“It’s the same as on the weekend in České Budějovice. Anyone who has any wounds stayed at home to receive treatment and be able to play against Olomouc on Sunday,” explains Trousil.
