Pilsen footballers crushed the weakened Karvina 5:0 and remain undefeated in the league

Pilsen footballers crushed Karvina 5:0 at home in the 4th round of the first league. The West Bohemians have maintained their invincibility in this season of the top competition and from the second place in the table they continue to lose two points to the leader Sparta, who is defending the title.

Viktoria decided today already in the opening act, when Daniel Vašulín scored and, after the expulsion of visiting Patrik Čavoš from the 26th minute, Tom Slončík also scored. After the change of sides in the power play, Lukáš Červ, Pavel Šulc and substitute Erik Jirka scored from a penalty. In the 72nd minute, home team player Cory Séne also received a red card.

Pilsen beat Karvina after two matches, last season they couldn’t even score a goal. The West Bohemians partly made up for the previous draw in Jablonec and claimed their most overwhelming victory in the top competition since December, when they also outclassed České Budějovice 5:0.

Viktoria is ideally tuned for Thursday’s rematch of the 3rd preliminary round of the Europa League against Kryvbas Kryvyi Rih, in which they will defend a 2:1 lead from the opening away match. Slezana lost for the second time out of three duels this season in the top flight, in the last round they rested due to the postponement of the home match against Ostrava.

Coach Viktorie Koubek made only two changes compared to Thursday’s match against Kryvbas. The 16-year-old author of the equalizing goal, Panoš, remained on the bench just like Vydra, and this time they started Vašulín with Slončík, who got a chance in the starting line-up for the first time since arriving from Zlín in the summer.

The home team was missing goalkeeper Jedlička for the third time in a row due to illness. Tvrdonň replaced him again between the sticks, but he didn’t have much to do. The West Bohemian favorite dictated the pace from the start and created great chances. In the seventh minute, Šulc made a breakaway, but his shot was blocked at the last moment by the returning Memič. After a quarter of an hour, the second best gunner of the last league season hit the crossbar with his head from the center from the left side.

In the 20th minute, he missed Havel with a cross shot at the back post. In the next three minutes, the active home team was already in the lead. Vašulín ran onto a long kick from the goalkeeper Tvrdoně, pushed past the Svozil defender in a fight and shot past Knobloch. The summer signing from Hradec Králové followed up on the winning goal against Kryvbas and scored the second competitive goal in the Viktoria jersey.

Slezan did not do well at all, and in the 26th minute Čavoš made their position even more complicated, who stepped on Cervo’s ankle with a sharp tackle, and the referee Pechanec immediately sent him off. Slončík took advantage of the power play just after four minutes. The 19-year-old offensive midfielder coolly finished off a beautiful combination at the far post after a pass from Šulec and scored the first competitive goal for Viktoria.

After the change of sides, the West Bohemians enjoyed the match against the weakened and surrendered guests. In the 48th minute, Vašulín, with his back to the goal, sent the ball into the net from the left side of the center with a quick foot, but the video referee revealed the previous offside.

In the 58th minute, Viktoria could celebrate the third goal. The worm in the box won the ball twice and sent it down the ground to the back post. The Czech international scored his 10th jubilee league goal, scoring in the top flight for the first time since December, when he was still working in Liberec.

It was only after an hour of play that Karviná also headed between the posts for the first time, Tvrdonň hit against Mikuš. From the counterattack, the home team made it 4:0. In the 63rd minute, he headed a cross from the left side at the back post into the Šulc net and scored his third goal of the league season, thanks to which he reached the top of the Gunners’ table.

In the next two minutes, Slončík got the ball into the net for the second time in the match, but due to offside, the video referee intervened again and the referee disallowed the goal. In the 70th minute, defender Séne jumped into the first competitive match for Viktoria, but he only lasted a few tens of seconds on the pitch. After a sharp step on substitute Žák, referee Pechanec sent him off.

Even with an equal number of players on the pitch, the home team scored once more. Referee Pechanec, after the intervention of the video referee and a review of the situation on the monitor, revealed that Ražnatovič played with his hand in the goal and substitute Jirko did not hesitate from the penalty in the 87th minute. Pilsen won at home in the league for the sixth time out of the last seven matches.
