Pilot Wrong Turn Off Masin Leads to Calamity-Confusion Dewa 19 Concert at JIS

Jakarta

detikTravel’s most popular news yesterday discussed the story of a pilot who mistakenly turned off the engine resulting in a plane crash. Not only that, the chaos after the Dewa 19 concert at JIS is also still in the spotlight.

Reporting from the Daily Star, TransAsia Airways flight 235 took off from Songhsan Airport in Taiwan. This flight should have taken an hour and arrived at Kinmen Airport, mainland China on February 5, 2015.

However, the flight that took off at 11:00 local time had an accident. Just minutes after takeoff one of the ATR 72 aircraft’s two turboprop engines suffered a mechanical failure.

The normal procedure for this situation is to disable the problem engine and use the other engine to make an emergency landing at the origin airport.

However, the cockpit voice recorder and flight data recorder said otherwise. The flight on February 4 2015 failed due to pilot error.

According to the chronology at 10:52 a.m., the aircraft’s number two engine, on the starboard side of the aircraft, experienced a power outage which resulted in the loss of almost all power.

Less than a minute later, captain Liao Chien-tsung and his co-pilot Liu Tze-chung turned off the number one engine. Even though this machine is still functioning properly.

With both engines dead, the plane at 1,630 feet began to fall. A netizen’s car dashboard recorder recorded the plane crashing right in front of him.
