Passengers on a Turkish Airlines flight experienced moments of panic after the pilot died in the middle of the flight.
Plane had to land in New York
Through X, the press advisor and spokesperson for Turkish Airlines, Yahya Üstün, gave details of the chaotic event that occurred on October 9.
The plane in question was an Airbus 350 with tail registration TC-LGR that was flying the route of flight TK204, which left Seattle (United States) and was destined for Istanbul (Turkey).
Üstün reported that the pilot was identified as İlçehin Pehlivan. During the trip, he fainted, so they quickly helped him. However, the captain had died. After this, the cabin crew decided to make an emergency landing in New York.
Pehlivan was 59 years old and had worked for the Turkish airline since 2007. On August 3, 2024, he underwent the periodic examination at the Aviation Medical Center, under the authorization of the General Directorate of Civil Aviation.
The result was positive, because the captain did not present any health problem that would prevent him from performing his duties normally. The causes of his death are still unknown.
“As a Turkish Airlines family, we wish God’s mercy for our captain and patience for all his colleagues and loved ones, especially his grieving family,” the spokesperson stated.
Plane made emergency landing due to the presence of a mouse
On September 20, there was an event that went around the world. The presence of a mouse caused a flight of the Scandinavian airline SAS to make an emergency landing.
The aircraft covered the route Oslo (Norway) – Malaga (Spain). The unusual thing happened when a passenger checked the food. To his surprise, there was the little mouse.
After reporting this incident, the crew made an unscheduled stop in Copenhagen, Denmark. Instead of taking the situation with anger, the passengers saw the humorous side of this particular event.
“Believe it or not, a lady sitting next to me (…) opened her food and a mouse jumped out,” one of the travelers, Jarle Børrestad, posted on his Facebook profile with a photo with two women , all smiling.
