Pilgrims from all over Poland and abroad gathered at the Częstochowa Shrine on the 26th to pray to Our Lady of Częstochowa.
(Vatican News Network) The Polish Catholic Church celebrated the Feast of Our Lady in Częstochowa on August 26. An important moment in the festivities is the participation in the Holy Mass at the Mount Guangming pilgrimage site. Among the faithful attending the ceremony were representatives of the Polish Bishops’ Conference.
The devotion of the faithful to Our Lady of Częstochowa is growing, the head of the Polish Bishops’ Conference, Archbishop Gadski of Poznań, told Vatican Radio-Vatican News. He also mentioned the statue of Our Lady of Częstochowa, saying that this icon is closely related to the 600-year-old local belief tradition.
From June 4 to August 25 this year, 85,000 believers have come to the Shrine of Our Lady of Częstochowa on foot, on bicycles, running, motorcycles or horses. Pope John Paul II, Pope Benedict XVI and Pope Francis all made pilgrimages to the Shrine of Our Lady in Częstochowa to pray to the Virgin.
