Pilgrimage to Mecca in the Last Ten Days of Ramadan

Jeddah – As Ramadan enters its last ten days, the holy places of Makkah and Madinah are witnessing a great gathering of believers. Despite the pouring rain, the flow of believers continues to seek blessings in Mecca. These are the days to look forward to Laylatul Qadr, which is far superior to a thousand months and opens the gates of heaven and receives special blessings from the Creator of the Universe.

∙ Days set aside for the release of Hell

The first ten days of Ramadan are devoted to blessings and the following ten days are devoted to forgiveness. Believers have become more active along with prayers in more charity work and charity. In the mosques all over Saudi Arabia, since the 21st night, there has been an endless flow of believers for midnight prayers. Every believer waits for Laylatul Qadr, the opening of heaven, on any of the intervening nights from the 21st to the 29th.

∙ Days and nights in Makkah and Madinah, immersed in prayers

Both Harams were overflowing with believers during the first Tahjud Qiyamulail prayer. The imam prayed for Palestine and the suffering residents of Gaza during the prayer held at Masjid Dunna Bavi.

The flow of believers from within Saudi Arabia and other countries to pray in the holiest places of Makkah and Madinah is increasing by the minute. All the gates are open for the convenience of worshippers. At every namaz, the line of believers increases and extends beyond the courtyards and squares of the mosque.

∙ Fully equipped to manage congestion

Considering the rush to the last ten, both the Haram Affairs Department and other departments had made all kinds of preparations in advance to provide facilities. The head of religious affairs of the Grand Mosque and the Prophet’s Mosque, Sheikh Dr. Abdul Rahman Al Sudais requested.

∙ Do not use mobile
He advised everyone not to be distracted from prayers by using mobile phones to take photos and videos, and to engage in worship. He also congratulated the rulers of the country for their careful care and service of the two holy mosques

∙ Days to continue in meditation
Elaborate arrangements have been made for the last ten in both the harems.

A pious atmosphere is provided in both Harams for those who are in Itikaaf (meditation). This time 3000 men and women have been given the opportunity. Doors 106, 114, 119 of the Haram are reserved for them.

∙ 35,000 new carpets
35,000 new carpets have been provided to all prayer areas of the Grand Mosque and courtyards. 4000 employees under the charge of 200 supervisors are serving for 24 hours cleaning operations including equipment and machinery. 3516 restrooms and 9155 samsam containers have also been prepared. Also, 3,000 wheelchairs, 2,000 electric wheelchairs and 6,000 wheelchair-users are being provided.

∙ More facilities for the elderly and differently abled.
A golf cart system has been started in Masjid-ul-Haram for the elderly, differently-abled and disabled to perform Tawaf (Circumambulation). 10 people can travel in a cart at a cost of 25 Riyals per person. This facility is available from 4 pm to 4 am.

∙ Security patrol has been strengthened
The General Directorate of Civil Defense has intensified security patrolling in Makkah and Madinah for the last ten days. The integrity of the elevator and escalator systems has been ensured to effectively serve the visitors and Umrah performers.

∙ Bus service has been increased
Bus service has been increased in Madinah in the last ten years. The shuttle bus service from various parts of Madinah to Prophet’s Mosque and Quba Mosque has been extended further.

∙ Feast day; Mosques and Eidgahs are getting ready
Islamic Affairs Minister Dr. Abdullatif bin Abdulaziz Al Sheikh has ordered all designated prayer places and mosques to prepare for the Eid-ul-Fitr prayer this year (1445 AH). The minister has instructed to complete the maintenance and cleaning works in the mosques and places of prayer as part of the preparations.
