Puerto Rican volleyball player Pilar Marie Victoriá, 28, was found dead in her room in the city of Ankara, Turkey.

MEXICO.- Puerto Rican volleyball player Pilar Marie Victoria Lopez, 28 years old, She was found dead in an apartment in Türkiye, where she was an imported player from club Nilüfer Belediyespor.

Although the cause of his death has not been revealed, his agent reported that his body showed no signs of violence and he was found lifeless in his bed.

The athlete missed a practice with her team and was found dead in her residence in Besevler, in the city of Ankara.

His parents have already been notified of the tragic news and his death is being investigated and they issued a statement.

We are grateful for all the displays of affection towards our beloved daughter Pilar Marie Victoria Lopez. Since we received the devastating news of her death, we have gone through very difficult times that we never imagined we would live through. We have had to face the greatest fear of every parent: losing a son or daughter.

Pilar Marie Victoriá López was the daughter of former Puerto Rican Double A baseball pitcher Luis Ernesto Victoriá and stood out as a volleyball player both nationally and internationally.

From her beginnings in Caguas, Pilar demonstrated her talent and determination, shining at both the University of Texas and the University of Arkansas.

She was also a proud member of the Puerto Rican volleyball team, representing her country with honor and courage in numerous competitions.

‘Today our sport suffers an irreparable loss. Pilar was an exemplary young woman who represented Puerto Rico with pride and commitment. We join her family and loved ones in this moment of profound pain.’
