London: A fine of 15,000 rupees (150 pounds) for feeding a pigeon in a public place. The incident took place in St. George’s Square, Luton, England. Luton Council said feeding pigeons here in the town center would not only attract more pigeons but also bring in other rodents and insects. Some criticized the authorities’ action on social media. But some were in favor of the move. Luton Council said it is committed to managing litter in the city and its team will fine those who create conditions for littering, including feeding pigeons. A special patrol team has been deployed for surveillance. The authorities raised the fine in 2021. This area is also visited by many tourists.
