Pigeon droppings, broken down heaters: students welcome Queen Mathilde to the conservatory with an awareness campaign

The Federation of French Speaking Students (FEF) took advantage of a private visit by Queen Mathilde to the Royal Conservatory of Brussels on Friday to relaunch the debate on the management of the institution’s infrastructure.

Forty students from the Royal Conservatory of Brussels have raised awareness of the lack of resources allocated to renovating the premises of the establishment.

Lack of space, leaks in audiences, pigeon droppings or broken down heaters, students supported by the school’s student council and the FEF denounced the underfunding of the arts colleges and the difficult conditions in which young people artists are led to realize their academic journey.

Welcomed by banners and photos of the most dilapidated places on the ground, the Queen “could see the state of dilapidation of the establishment,” says Julie Leclerc, communications officer of the FEF. “She then met with the director of the Student Council and the president of the FEF, Chems Mabrouk. Unfortunately, despite her listening, these types of questions are not her responsibility.”
