Former Commissioner of Komnas HAM Natalius Pigai reported to the Criminal Investigation Police of the National Police on suspicion of racism. After being reported, Pigai threatened to police several figures, namely Sri Sultan Hamengkubuwono X, to Minister Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan.
Pigai was reported by the organization BaraNusa. BaraNusa considers tweets about President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) and Central Java Governor Ganjar Pranowo to be racist.
Police report (LP) to Pigai, registered in number LP/B/0601/X/2021/SPKT/BARESKRIM POLRI. The LP was created on October 4, 2021 and signed by Officer Siaga 1 Ipda Irwan on behalf of the Head of Subdivision of Receipt of Reports.
In that LP, Natalius Pigai suspected of committing criminal acts of humiliation/hate speech/hate speech (via electronic media) and/or crimes concerning the elimination of racial and ethnic discrimination as referred to in Article 45 A Paragraph (2) in conjunction with Article 28 Paragraph (2) of the Republic of Indonesia Law Number 19 of 2016 concerning amendments to Law of the Republic of Indonesia Number 11 of 2008 concerning Information and Electronic Transactions and/or Article 156 of the Criminal Code and/or Article 16 in conjunction with Article 4 Letter (b) paragraph (1) of Law of the Republic of Indonesia Number 40 of 2008 concerning the Elimination of Racial and Ethnic Discrimination and/or Article 14 paragraph (1) and paragraph (2) of the Criminal Code.
