Former Commissioner of the National Human Rights Commission (Komnas HAM) Natalius Pigai be in the spotlight because it is considered to have conveyed a message of racism against President Jokowi and Central Java Governor Ganjar Pranowo. Pigai denied this when asked for confirmation.
“Don’t trust the people of Central Java, Jokowi and Ganjar. They robbed us of our wealth, they killed the people of Papua, trampled on the dignity of the Papuan people with lowly words, racism, monkeys and trash. We are not lowly. Pigai’s joke was widely commented netizen. Not a few criticized for judging Pigai’s tweet to be racist. Asked for confirmation regarding this matter, Pigai denied.
“It’s not racist. It’s just two people whose names are Jokowi and Ganjar, there’s no racism,” said Pigai when contacted detik.com by phone today.
“Who are the racists? They think that Central Java is an axiom. The sun rising from the east is an axiom. Jokowi and Ganjar from Central Java are an axiom. There is no racism there,” he continued.
Pigai said those who accuse him of being racist are supporters of Jokowi or Ganjar who are offended by him. Pigai calls himself an opponent of racism in Indonesia.
Pigai then reiterated that his tweet did not contain a racist message.
