A few days ago, with the return from isolation of some of the staff, the clinical activity of the Medicine department of the Pieve di Cadore hospital resumed. In reporting this, Dr. Cristiano Perbellini, who directs it, underlines that the department has suffered from the positivization of personnel (social and health workers, nurses and doctors) and patients and that this has led to the temporary suspension of the activity to provide for sanitizing all the premises (sanitation which was previously carried out by area) and monitor the progress of serological screening on staff until the positive results are stabilized.

For some days – as mentioned – clinical activity has resumed maintaining careful surveillance of patients coming from the emergency room, particularly those considered at greater risk of possible Coronavirus positivity (a greater degree of isolation has been provided for them).
The specialist outpatient activity (diabetic, endocrinological and geriatric visits) – explains Dr. Perbellini – has been reset with an approach oriented towards telemedicine for all patients for whom it is possible; for more complex ones that require a “face-to-face” visit, this option also remains active (in priority B or U for the first visits). The outpatient support activity (blood transfusions, bloodletting, administration of injection therapy) also continues for patients with chronic diseases who cannot see these approaches postponed.
With the imminent opening of the community hospital for covid-negative patients within the Pieve hospital, Perbellini points out that the possibility of giving continuity of care to the post-acute patient opens up in the area where the prevailing structures now predominate. valence “Covid” necessary to meet the demand for containers for the increase of infected subjects.
As a geriatrician, beyond the vaccine prospects for the containment of related Covid infections, Perbellini renews the invitation to use a protective mask, to sanitize the hands and to maintain safety distances, cornerstones for the infectious control of the moment.
