Pieter van Vollenhoven is in New York letting his Twitter followers know how he’s doing there. After complaining about traffic in the city, he shared a photo of the “slightly… slightly different” view from his hotel room on Friday afternoon, Dutch time.
“The view through the window… something… something… other than a squirrel in the garden,” Pieter writes with a photo of the New York skyline under a clear blue sky. However, the 83-year-old seems to prefer to look elsewhere. “I have a certain preference too,” he tweeted. Princess Margriet’s husband is with her in the American city of millions for the Peter Stuyvesant Ball, the association’s annual gala in New York.
On Friday night (Dutch time), Pieter announced that he had arrived in New York. However, he looked more fun than he was. “It looks romantic and impressive. But the traffic is, in a word, terrible and the prices have skyrocketed,” says Pieter. “But otherwise everything is fine!!”
