Princess Margriet and Pieter van Vollenhoven will also miss the annual NAF Ball, formerly the Peter Stuyvesant Ball, in New York this year. The couple planned to fly to the United States at the end of this week, but have canceled it due to the current corona situation. The Government Information Service confirmed this on Monday.

Last year the party was organized digitally due to the corona pandemic. Then the couple left a video message from the Netherlands. “We will continue to practice our dance steps so that we are ready for next year,” said Van Vollenhoven at the time. This year the NAF Ball will continue in normal form. It is not yet clear whether the princess and her husband will do something digital for this.
The ball is an annual event of the Netherland-America Foundation, of which the princess and her husband are patroness and patrons. The NAF is at the basis of many cultural, scientific and educational activities.
