Pierre-Yves Revol, president of Castres Olympique, reframes his supporters

Anger from Pierre-Yves Revol, the president of Castres Olympique. He salutes the enormous performance of his club last Saturday against Montpellier (25-9), but deplores the behavior of some supporters at the end of the meeting. The referee was insulted by some supporters at the Pierre-Fabre stadium.

“There are limits and they have been exceeded.”

Inadmissible remarks which harm the image of the club and set a catastrophic example for young supporters, says Pierre-Yves Revol: “Fans have the right to disagree, to express their disapproval even loudly and you hear it in most stadiums. But there are limits and they have been exceeded. The insults heard last Saturday are the ones you hear in some football stadiums and that I don’t want. OK to chamber, it can be part of the game, but not okay to vulgarly insult the referee. If we let that happen, soon we will come to insulting the players. I think the vast majority of our audience understands that position.”

If other facts of this type were to be repeated, the club will make firm arrangements. “I will be intractable in the future”says the president of Castres Olympique, who claims to have never heard such remarks in his stadium. “Rugby is a sport of passion, but everyone must be aware that many sports envy us our state of mind and the conviviality that exists between all the players and especially between supporters”, recalls Pierre-Yves Revol.

The club would not want these slippages to spoil the magnificent season achieved so far by the club. The CO, currently 4th in the Top 14, will play in Brive on Saturday March 26 and derby against Stade Toulousain on Saturday 2 April. A derby to follow in full on France Bleu Occitanie.
