Pierre Richard celebrates his 90th birthday, the films and loves of his life

Even if you’re not a comedy lover or a big fan of French cinema, you probably know his name. Pierre Richard is a living film legend and turns 90 today.

What was his journey from serious theater to crazy comedy? What women did he love and who is he living with now? And what does he do in his spare time?

From theater to cabaret

If Pierre Richard had not discovered a love of humor in himself, he would probably have been a theater actor, a master of serious roles. He originally studied dramatic acting, and even played a few serious roles on the boards that mean the world. Not to mention that he studied philosophy before acting. And because it didn’t seem practical enough to his parents, he did an additional course in rehabilitation.

But neither philosophy, nor work in the field of rehabilitation, nor serious theater excited him as much as humor and entertainment. Pierre Richard he fell under the spell of cabarets, where he enjoyed interacting with the audience the most and where slowly but surely his confused, disheveled, clumsy and timid hero, whom film fans fell in love with, began to be born.

How a big blond was born

From the cabaret it was close to the television, and from the television it was only a step to the movie. He got his first major role in the 1967 film Alexandre le bienheureux, in which he was supposed to play a completely normal, ordinary parachutist. But Richard convinced the director to give him a free hand in the conception of the character, and the result was a Richardian confused and confused hero.

This was the moment when the actor’s comedic talent was first shown to the full, moreover, his style of acting was proven, and in 1970, with the film The Absent Pierre Richard, he showed that this would be his life’s journey. He found himself in the roles of troublemakers, timid troublemakers, and misfits and remained in them basically all his life. The highlight of this era of the 70s was, of course, the birth of the big blond character (the films Big Blond with a Black Shoe, The Return of the Big Blond) or Hraček.

And two with…

Of course, Pierre Richard can pull off the entire film alone, but the fact is that it suited him, for example, in a pair with the iconic beauty Jane Birkin. He played with her in the film Mustard gets up my nose and in Náhradníkov. He also got along well with Gérard Depardieu. They shone together in the films Kopyto, Otec a očet or Fugitives.

Lover of wine, women and life

Pierre Richard is a typical Frenchman, a lover of life with all the beauties and minor vices that belong to it. That’s why he always openly admitted that he loves good Cuban cigars, quality wine and beautiful women.

As for wine, he perfected his taste there and he bought his own vineyard on the peninsula of St. Martin. For several years now, he has only been going there to relax and enjoy the deliciousness of his own wines, he has handed over all the care and work around the vineyard to his son.

And how is he with women? The actor doesn’t talk much about his privacy and is a bit vague about his wives. Only one thing is certain, on the screen he is shy towards women, not at all in real life. On the contrary, getting them was never a problem for him.

He married for the first time in 1973 and married an actress Danielle Minazzoliwith whom he has two sons. Then the sources diverge a bit. According to some, Pierre Richard was married to another actress Muriel Dubrule, then also to the Moroccan Aisha Zazar, until finally he found happiness and peace with the significantly younger former Brazilian model Ceyla Lacerda. Other sources omit Zazar from the list of his wives, with whom he allegedly had only a love affair that was not sealed by marriage.

There are also rumors about his lovers from the ranks of famous beauties, but the actor belongs to a generation where everyone was very careful about his privacy, and he also always expressed himself in the sense that a gentleman is silent about his adventures. Anyway, we wish the birthday boy good luck in the field of love and life!
