Pierre Palmade case: media treatment that tarnishes the image of homosexuals, according to LGBT + activists

the essential
We no longer present the Palmade Affair. The dramatic accident caused by the comedian on February 10 not only caused a stir, but also strong reactions to the LGBT + community.

For several days, Pierre Palmade has sadly made the A French tabloids. The car accident caused by the comedian, on February 10, had severe repercussions on his image. And more generally on what he represents: a man who loves men, prey to “chemsex”. A practice of having sex under the influence of narcotics.

Faced with the excitement aroused by this news item, the media quickly circumvented the accident to take an interest in the life of Pierre Palmade, from his sexual orientation to his addiction to narcotics. On Twitter, some LGBT + activists have pointed the finger at this journalism tinged with “sensationalism”.

“‘Sex’, the first word on the list in the call for the next ‘Paris Match’ on Pierre Palmade”, calls out journalist Fabien Randanne on Twitter. “A lexical field that has chosen its side, that of moral judgment” , he wrote on the social network.

The Huffington Post also notes a tweet from Eddy de Pretto, now deleted, in which the singer denounces stereotypes linked to the LGBT+ community. “As we never mix tea towels and towels, please do not mix gay people with Palmade pleaaaaase”.

Other internatures also deplored a case whose treatment could have “opened discussions and developed prevention on the ravages of ‘chemsex'” rather than stigmatizing homosexuals.

The mention of chemsex has no place in this case

Asked by the Huff Post, Jean-Luc Roméro-Michel, deputy mayor of Paris in charge of the fight against discrimination, castigated: “We make an amalgam, by mixing sex, drugs and this terrible accident. It will still be the fault of these wicked homosexuals who take drugs. They are still represented as irresponsible people who make love at all costs and who all take drugs”.

As a reminder, Pierre Palmade is currently suspected of being involved in a case of child pornography. We will know on Monday if he will go to prison or not, in the context of the road accident for which he is indicted for “aggravated homicide and involuntary injuries”.
