This is not the first, nor the last, subject of disagreement between the mayor LR of the 2nd arrondissement of Lyon and environmentalists.
The day after the presentation meeting of the cable car project, Pierre Oliver stepped up to the plate in a press release.
First, because “all the town halls of the municipalities concerned were invited, including that of the 7th arrondissement. However, Pierre Oliver is the only one who was excluded from this steering committee“, explains the town hall of the 2nd.
However, among the three routes envisaged by environmentalists, two routes would respectively fly over the Perrache district (with a terminus) and Sainte-Blandine.
“I can’t even imagine the installation of giant pylons right in the middle of the emblematic district of Sainte-Blandine! This project is an aberration (…) It is a waste of public money!“, revolted the city councilor.
He also announces that the town hall of the 2nd arrondissement will launch “extensive consultation“in the Perrache and Sainte-Blandine districts from September”to give the inhabitants a voice and ask their opinion on such a development“.
Obviously, Pierre Oliver does not seem to trust the consultation of environmentalists also scheduled for the fall. This was already the case during the Voie est Libre pedestrianization operation last October.
