Dream your life. Do everything to live your dreams. At just 13 years old, Pierre-Louis Rose made his choice. Give himself the means to seize his destiny, his future, with both hands. Firm, gloved hands when a ball threatens his nets. A determined look, resolutely turned towards the hoped-for future. Professional goalkeeper.
Football, a family passion that is passed down from generation to generation. “My grandfather was a great fan and a fervent spectator. My father put on the cleats.”
A very structured schedule
Goalkeeper? “My older brother was one. I dreamed of imitating him. From the youngest categories. Since then, it’s the position I like the most,” reveals the man who started playing football at the age of 4.
Having played at Marseilles-lès-Aubigny and La Charité-sur-Loire, and currently at Saint-Simon in Toulouse, it was on the Marzyat pitch at La Simonnerie that he finally made his mark. “Organized by the District, specific goalkeeper training courses brought together many goalkeepers from the department every Thursday evening.”
1.68 m tall, potentially 1.80 m as an adult, slender and toned, an admission last September to the AGB (Goalkeeper Academy) in Argelès-Gazost, validate very real physical abilities.
And mentally? With a deep, serious voice that suits his determination, Marzyat reassures.
“Leaving your family, your friends. Moving 700 km away from them. Going from a college of one hundred and fifty students to one that welcomes seven hundred and fifty, in boarding school, complying with the demands of the academy, in terms of sport, school, and discipline, is not an easy thing.” Without trying to deny a few small slumps, he says he is “glad to have passed this milestone. It helped me a lot to grow, to mature. My parents, with all their hearts with me, helped me a lot in this regard.”
His week follows a very structured schedule. Physical training from 6:30 a.m., then classes and more training from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. On the other hand, weekends require a certain amount of autonomy. “I live with a host family in Toulouse, 150 km from the center. I have to manage transportation over this distance. A great learning experience.”
Cristiano Ronaldo for example
Pierre-Louis, who has Cristiano Ronaldo as an example, “for his life path and his determination”, is approaching this new season in the Pyrenees very calmly. “I know where I’m going. I know what awaits me.”
Firmly committed to his desire to succeed, he nevertheless announces, in the event of failure, a plan B, “firefighter. For the sporting side, but also for what this job represents in terms of helping people.”
