Singer, composer and producer Pierre Kartner, better known as Vader Abraham, died on Tuesday at the age of 87. Here’s what his family is wearing today BN DeStem and confirmed to the ANP news agency.

Kartner was best known for songs like In the little cafe on the harbor and the Smurfs song. The Smurfs song has sold more than 25 million times worldwide and In the little cafe on the harbor it has been treated more than 250 times and translated into many languages.

Pierre Kartner “Father Abraham” died.

Kartner was born on 11 April 1935 in Elst, Gelderland. His last residence was Breda. “Breda loses a surprising person,” Mayor Depla tweeted, and Kartner’s colleagues also reacted.

“A greatness for Dutch music. Rest in peace. Pierre Kartner thanks for all the great songs,” says Frans Bauer on Facebook.

John de Bever, also on Facebook: “I don’t know what to write. A greatness is gone. My discoverer”.

Ronnie Tober also reflects on Kartner’s death. For several years he toured with Kartner at the De Vader Abraham Show along stages in the Netherlands and Belgium.
