The LR deputy for the 7th district of Pas-de-Calais blasted the government’s management of the Covid-19 epidemic in the department. “What you say about vaccination are rifles”, he told the Prime Minister in the hemicycle of the National Assembly.

On Thursday March 4, the Prime Minister announced the containment of Pas-de-Calais for the next four weekends. In question, the soaring incidence rate and the saturation of intensive care services. While 23 other departments in mainland France were under close scrutiny by the authorities, Pas-de-Calais was the only one to suffer these restrictions.

In the wake of these announcements, several elected officials had denounced a “Two weights, two measures”, like the LR mayor of Le Touquet Daniel Fasquelle. This Tuesday, March 9, the LR deputy of the 7th district of Pas-de-Calais Pierre-Henri Dumont questioned the Prime Minister on the same theme at the National Assembly.
“Our fellow citizens are paying the price for your negligence, whether in intensive care or deprived of their liberty”
He initially lambasted the decision to confine “the only inhabitants of Pas-de-Calais” for the next four weekends, judging this decision “intolerable“.
“This decision results from a double standard, because for the same incidence rate, you create two categories of department: the provincial departments that you confine on the one hand and the departments of Île-de-France that you refuse to confine on the other hand “.

The deputy here refers to the bad figures recorded in certain departments of Île-de-France such as Seine-Saint-Denis.

On the set of France 3 last night, the prefect of Pas-de-Calais responded to these comments.
“If it had been necessary to confine Seine-Saint-Denis, it would have been necessary to confine Île-de-France. However, the neighboring departments of Seine-Saint-Denis have an incidence rate which is absolutely not that of Seine-Saint-Denis, first element. Second element, the hospital capacity is absolutely not the same as that of Pas-de-Calais. The hospital plateau in the Ile-de-France region is incomparable with that of of Pas-de-Calais “.

“What you say about vaccination are rifles”
Another angle of attack, the vaccination campaign. While an operation “punch” was organized this weekend in the region, allowing the injection of more than 45,000 doses in two days, Pierre-Henri Dumont denounced the government’s strategy.

“What you say about vaccination are rifles, launched the deputy to the prime minister. On March 2, Pas-de-Calais had a delay of 17,000 first injections and 12,000 second injections on the national average (the Regional Health Agency had admitted the existence of a delay in the vaccination campaign in the Pas-de-Calais department, Editor’s note). This means that your restocking of vaccines will not even make it possible to make up for the delay your fault has taken since January “.
“What you say about the #vaccination, these are carabistouilles (…) your restocking of vaccines will not allow you to make up for the delay made by your fault “, replies @phdumont. #covid19#DirectAN #QAG pic.twitter.com/k7qXJMDNAH

The deputy concluded his speech by asking “vaccines, not to catch up, but to get ahead of the epidemic (…), the end of double standards between Paris and the province (…), the possibility of temporarily waiving curfew at 6 p.m. for shopping in order to better smooth the gauges in food stores and limit the spread of the epidemic “.
“The inhabitants of Pas-de-Calais are asking (…) for vaccines, not to catch up but to get ahead of the epidemic”.
Pierre-Henri Dumont, LR deputy for Pas-de-Calais, March 9, 2021
Faced with these accusations, Adrien Taquet, Secretary of State to the Minister of Solidarity and Health, replied to the deputy. “The Pas-de-Calais has become a department more affected than the others, particularly at the hospital level (…). Strong measures had to be taken, as in the Alpes-Maritimes for example, as everywhere else where it will be necessary” .
“Pas-de-Calais has become a department more affected than the others, particularly at the hospital level (…) hospital tension is high”, underlines @ATaquet which justifies the decision to establish a #confinement, on weekends, in the department. #Covid19 #DirectAN #QAG pic.twitter.com/kqLh09xGvs

Regarding vaccination, the Secretary of State recalled that “the mobilization of vaccination centers is very strong” in the department and that three ephemeral XXL centers opened last weekend to meet demand.
