All good things come to an end. This Wednesday, April 10, a few days after his appearance at the Zénith in Paris, Pierre de Maere gave the very last concert of his tour at the Cirque Royal in Brussels. The opportunity for the young Belgian artist to thank the public one last time for these two crazy years, he who wrote the hits “Un jour je mariai un ange” and “Enfant de”, released his first album “Regarde-moi” , sold nearly 70,000 copies, and won the Victoire de la Musique for Male Revelation in 2023. If he is preparing to take a long, well-deserved break, Pierre de Maere, before that, made an appearance on the set from “The Voice”, last Saturday. For the crucial stage of the Battles, he played the role of co-coach of MIKA to advise Gabriel Lobao and Rouslann who competed in song on “Love Me, Please Love Me” by Michel Polnareff.

“It’s difficult for an artist like me”
“I chose Pierre because I loved his album, and I think it’s a great reference for today’s pop. He’s someone who really has opinions about what he listens to, about the music and the performances. It’s quite sharp,” MIKA then confided during the show. This honorable role of co-coach, in the same way as Mentissa, Benjamin Biolay or even the sensation Pierre Guénard, the interpreter of “Romeo” accepted it without hesitation. “I really admire the showman qualities of the coaches because you have to hold the house when you’re doing hours of broadcasting,” he told our colleagues at Tele-Leisure. However, could this experience push him to move into the red coaching chair?
“I’m so shy and withdrawn in this kind of show that co-coached once, yes, but coach, I think I don’t have the resources to do it yet. Time to gain confidence and have more credibility,” replies Pierre de Maere with honesty, who therefore prefers to wait until he gains artistic maturity before considering taking a seat in a red armchair. The 22-year-old singer reveals that, when he was younger, he would never have been able to pass the blind auditions for “The Voice”, believing that he did not have “the vocal abilities necessary for that”: “Which worth is more the totality of who I am. It’s my character, the text, the songs, the images that go with it and it’s all that that makes up the universe. At “The Voice”, it’s difficult for an artist like me who wouldn’t have been able to reveal all that with the blind auditions which focus only on the voice. My voice was interesting, but I didn’t have the resources to appear on a TV set.” Which hasn’t stopped him from becoming one of the most exciting new names on the French-speaking pop scene.
