In a recent interview for People, the Irishman has answered this question again, assuring that Idris Elba, one of the names that sounds the most for the role, it would be a “great” choice.
“Idris Elba comes to mind,” Brosnan said: “Idris has such a powerful presence and such a commanding voice. It would be great. There’s Tom Hardy out there too. Tom can really up the ante, be the stand-in. They both can.” Also, the actor has opined on the future of the franchise after the departure of Craig: “Now that Daniel has made such an indelible mark, they can go on in different ways.”
Despite having answered the question, Brosnan has confessed in this interview that being constantly consulted about the new Bond “it has become boring” for him. Of course, he is aware that it is the price to pay for having belonged to this saga: “You have to get over it and celebrate as a member of the audience and as a man who walked that path and played that character.”
