In anticipation of the thirtieth anniversary of the legendary rock band “Pienvedėja Pieđerjejujumi”, the band is coming to the audience with concerts and a documentary film. It will be an unprecedented format when watching a movie is combined with a concert.
Jānis Orbidāns’ documentary film about the band was already shown in Riga, but since bigger and smaller Latvian cities have shown great interest in it, including those where the band has not played during its existence, the idea of combining the concerts with the film arose. The first visit of the “milkmen” – on January 26 at the Vangažu Culture House.
“In this concert series, we will play both louder and quieter concerts. Which option to choose – louder or quieter – was decided by the organizers of the concert,” says the group’s drummer Pēteris Lunde. “So if listeners want to hear the full spectrum, they should attend at least two concerts and follow the information on the group’s social network accounts. It will indicate whether the concert is acoustic or loud.”
The film “The Adventures of a Milkman” is an inspiring story about three young people from Sabile, whose interest in music, pursuit of their own sound and friendship resulted in full audiences. “This film is not just a tribute to the band, it is a powerful narrative about the youth of the 90s and the harsh music environment,” the authors of the film say. In each concert venue, it will be possible to meet musicians, talk and ask questions of interest. After Vangaži, the next stops are February 2nd Jelgava’s “Melno Cepurīšu Balerija”, February 3rd Liepaja k/n “Wiktorija”, April 12th Valmiera Culture Center (acoustic) and April 19th Mārupe Culture House (acoustic).
