After maintaining this position, as other Texas businesses have done, the restaurant managers told the press that they had been receiving messages and calls threatening to call ICE for requiring the use of masks.
–
“For people to be negative towards us for trying to stay safe, so this doesn’t continue to happen, it just doesn’t make sense to us,” Monica Richards, co-owner of the restaurant, told the newspaper. The Washington Post.
–
Arnaldo Richards said that “it is not any criticism of the governor” but they would maintain the use of masks and all the measures that have been implemented in the last 11 months of the pandemic.
–
The news about the threats alleged by the restaurant’s owners sparked several messages of support from their clientele. “Picos” has been serving Mexican food in the Houston area for almost 40 years.
