In Bethesda’s role-playing games, we can become almost anything we want. The studio’s next RPG, Starfield, will be the biggest yet, with many worlds to visit. In these we will meet all kinds of peoples. And of course we can pocket them if we choose.
Pickpocketing is a long-standing gameplay element in The Elder Scrolls and Fallout games, and will also be present in Starfield. But our work will be more difficult than in fantasy or post-apocalyptic games. In Starfield, time doesn’t stop when you start digging into someone else’s pocket.
In Bethesda’s previous games, no matter how many times we went pickpocketing, time stopped during the actual action. So basically we could try as long as we wanted without any risk. This was also the case with breaking the locks. On the other hand, time will not stop in Starfield, so it will be much more difficult for us to pick someone out. We have to constantly follow and loot as we go. The game only gives you enough help by showing you in advance what percentage chance we will have to perform the action without falling, so we will be able to consider it in advance.
Starfield can be the big bang of this fall, the premiere will take place on PC and Xbox Series X/S on September 6.
