Pibrac. A mini-company at La Salle college

For the 12th consecutive year, the La Salle college in Pibrac is offering around twenty volunteer third year students the opportunity to experience the creation of a mini-business. This concrete and collective project allows these young people to experience entrepreneurship in a fun and professional way.

Marie Christine Decossas, professor of technology is supported and guided by EPA (Entreprendre pour Apprendre), a federation of associations under the 1901 law, approved by the Ministry of National Education which offers volunteers (mentors) to support the group.

Georges Henry is one of them. Since the beginning of the school year, two hours a week, he has been accompanying Marie Christine Decossas’ 3rd C class on this mission.

First, we had to choose a subject. The student Elio Blanco was unanimously approved for his proposal to create a cyclocligno. In this period of Covid where the cycle has become a very popular means of transport, he wanted to reinforce the safety of the cyclist by a flashing fixed on the back of the saddle and controlled by a relay on the handlebars.

After the design, it is a question of producing and marketing the cyclocligno “made in Pibrac”. The organization chart followed. Anatole Gauchet took charge of the project, assisted by a technical director and a communications director.

The mini-company is then broken down into poles: technical, financial, administrative, communication manager, and commercial. A real business.

In the classroom, this organization, supported by the two adults, allows young people to discover and experience the business world: they find their place in the group, propose, discover operating codes and argue to lead to well their project.

They hope to be able to present their cyclocligno at the next regional show in Occitania organized by EPA, in competition with 150 other mini-companies and be selected for the national show.

Even if they are not the winners, they will have developed with freshness, liveliness, enthusiasm and relevance, skills related to citizenship, to the discovery of the company and its functions, to the understanding of the economic world.
