Pibot: The Humanoid Robot Learning to Fly Aircrafts

PIBOT, developed by Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST), is a humanoid robot with a height of 160 cm and a weight of 65 kg. Pibot learns how to fly an aircraft by reading a manual written in human language. By remembering this, you can change the control method with a single switch in any aircraft and fly anywhere in the world while sitting in the cockpit.

For language understanding, AI such as ChatGPT, a chatbot developed by OpenAI, is used. It is said that it is possible to communicate with the co-pilot or the control tower by understanding synthesized voices. In addition, it can calculate a safe route in real time or respond to emergencies faster than humans, and of course it does not feel tired or drowsy.

Although it has not yet flown a real aircraft in the simulation stage, it is said that it will conduct an experiment soon. In addition to the sky, applications in automobiles and ships can also be expected in the future. It is said that it is being developed considering use in the Air Force.

The Pibot, which took six years to develop, is expected to be completed in 2026. Related information this placecan be found in
