“Piazza Garibaldi in Chieti, neglect and degradation are the worst showcase of a city”

“The degradation of a city and the neglect of places do not always have to be traced back to a road, a monumentality or something else, but in the case of Chieti it is visible and testifies to the disinterest of the Ferrara administration for the simplest evidence to resolve” , thus the group leader of the League in the Municipality of Chieti, Mario Colantonio, who specifies: “This is the case of the external steps of the public bathroom in Piazza Garibaldi, closed since 2017 due to breakages in the technological systems. Good, or rather bad, because despite being closed they have an external structural element given by the steps covered with a shelter but, as the photo highlights, full of stratified waste which has certainly been there for four years and is increasing in size. I would like to remind everyone that Piazza Garibaldi is the only open public car park in payment used in Chieti Alta and every Tuesday is home to the city market”.

“I can imagine the comments of the many citizens who walk along the “landfill” steps as well as those who use the benches facing it, renamed for the occasion “the belvedere benches” which daily host the many elderly people who spend a few hours in company and dialogue – concludes Colantonio -. We hope that the councilor for urban hygiene, perhaps with appropriate stimulus from the mayor of Ferrara, will clean and sanitize the places as soon as possible”.
