After the Christmas break, Parliament’s work will resume on Tuesday 9 January. The deputies, who were busy until December 29th with the approval of the budget law, will return to the chamber for the general discussion of the so-called “Mattei Plan”. The Government would be willing to proceed with the vote on the amendments, without raising the question of confidence, but everything will depend on the attitude of the opposition and how many amendment proposals will be presented. Also on Tuesday 9th January, at 3pm, the vote on the preliminary question on the super bonus decree is scheduled, while on Wednesday 10th at 9.30am communications from the Minister of Defense Guido Crosetto are scheduled on the extension of the authorization for the transfer of military vehicles, materials and equipment to ‘Ukraine. The decree, approved by the Council of Ministers on 19 December, will begin its process in parliament in the Senate but the Chamber will vote on its decisive “guidance act” to allow the sending of weapons and aid to Kiev throughout 2024. Already last year Parliament was divided on the issue, with the M5S and Avs voting against.
It will then be the meeting of the conference of group leaders scheduled for Wednesday at 2pm that will reorganize the January work in the Chamber. In the queue from 2023, the bill signed by Cafiero De Raho (M5S) on the subject of agri-food crimes, the one signed by Pittalis (FI) on the prescription and the motions regarding the regulation of the professional responsibility of operators remain to be examined health care and to overcome the critical issues related to staff shortages. Then, there are two dates circled in red in Montecitorio which concern Giorgia Meloni. In fact, the prime minister’s question time is scheduled for 17 January, while the honorary jury requested by Giuseppe Conte will have to express its opinion by 9 February to judge the validity of the accusations made against the M5S leader by the Prime Minister on the ESM, during of the assembly session of 12 December last.
In the Senate, however, the conference of group leaders to organize the work will meet on Tuesday 9th. Commemorations of Professor Francesco Alberoni and senator for life Norberto Bobbio are planned in the chamber, while the examination of the bill on differentiated autonomy. Meanwhile, the work of the Constitutional Affairs commission on the constitutional reform of the premiership resumes with a new round of hearings. Scheduled for Tuesday, among others, are speeches by Sabino Cassese, judge emeritus of the Constitutional Court and Luciano Violante, former president of the Chamber and president of the Leonardo Foundation. In the Foreign Affairs Committee, however, the examination of the decree for the extension of the authorization for the transfer of military vehicles, materials and equipment to the Ukrainian government authorities will begin.
