Pianist Iris Hond gives seven performances in Concertgebouw | in June NOW

Pianist and composer Iris Hond can be seen seven nights in a row from 14 to 20 June in the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam. In a concert series she honors the composer Ludovico Einaudi. It is the first time that an artist gives so many consecutive concerts in Het Concertgebouw.

Last year Hond also visited the Concertgebouw. “Then the first show sold out so quickly, after which it was decided to give an extra show”, Hond said in conversation with NU.nl.

The concerts take place in the small hall of Het Concertgebouw, a conscious choice of the pianist. “Selling a large room is great, of course, but I think the small room is so much more fun. It’s much more intimate.”

The music of Einaudi is known from, among others, the French film Intouchables. The Hond concert series is a tribute to him. “I know him personally and we have mutual admiration for each other. He inspires me through the directness and purity of his music.”

The announcement of the concert series is a good start for 2020 for the pianist. “Last year it was very much about personal development and my own story. 2020 is really all about other people’s stories.”
