On December 10, Andrejs Osokins’ solo concert “Osokins – Beethoven” will be performed at the Krustpils Culture House in Jēkabpils, which is dedicated to the pianist’s favorite composer Ludwig van Beethoven on his 250th anniversary. Since the premiere of this program in 2020, it has been performed not only in concert halls in Latvia, but also in Germany, and is still continuing its journey to the audience.
On December 12, Andrejs Osokins and Katrīna Gupalo’s new concert program “Strings of the Moon Rays” will be premiered at the Jelgava Culture House. This concert program was created for the national holidays and is very important for musicians, as it will highlight the basic values of Latvian classical music and childhood memories, increasing the sense of belonging to Latvia.
One week later, on December 19, Andrejs Osokins will celebrate his birthday as well as the birthday of the legendary French singer Edith Piafa at the Splendid Palace cinema with the concert performance “100 Years with Piafa”, which Andrei Osokin and Katrīna Gupalo created in 2015 as an experimental inter-genre project. The show combines Piafa’s most legendary hits and lesser-known songs with classical music, which inspired her during the singer’s lifetime and created an atmosphere in 20th-century Paris. The concert performance will be complemented by the short film “La Vie en Rose” made by director Ekaterina Lanskaja, which was shot at Morberg Villa in Jurmala this summer.
The Christmas mood will take place on December 22 and 26 at the VEF Culture Palace, where concerts “See you at Christmas. Invited by Andrejs Osokins and the orchestra” Riga “” will take place. This will be the third meeting of conductor Valdis Bhutan, orchestra “Riga” and Andrei Osokin on the same stage. This time the composer George Gershwin’s Piano Concerto in Fa Major, arranged by Martin Horh for wind orchestra, will be performed. Gershwin’s music is especially important for pianists this year – it has been performed not only in concerts, but also released on Andrei Osokin’s new album “Two Worlds”, which is partly dedicated to this composer. The concert will also feature works by Leonard Bernstein, Arturo Marche and Christmas melodies performed by the orchestra.
A month later, on January 22, Andrejs Osokins, Sergei Osokin and Georgij Osokin’s concert “Stars of Pianism. Three Osokini” will be performed in the concert hall “Big Amber” in Liepaja.
Andrejs Osokins said: “I am very pleased that so many different events are taking place all over Latvia this winter and that the culture and bright concerts are so much needed by the audience. This time is very intense for me, but I am happy that in December and January I have so many many different performances in Latvia and that they will be followed by concerts in Estonia, Germany and Switzerland. “
