Phu Quôc named among the best islands in Asia

Phu Quoc Island, off the coast of Kien Giang province in the Mekong Delta, has been honored among the top 10 islands in Asia by prestigious British travel magazine Conde Nast Traveler in its Readers’ Choice Awards 2024 .

The resort island, known for its quality services, stunning landscapes, healthy cuisine and the hospitality of its people, secured fifth place with 91.01 points compared to 88.89 points in 2023.

Other destinations on the list are Koh Samui (Thailand), Langkawi (Malaysia), Boracay (Philippines), Sri Lanka, Palawan (Philippines), Phukhet (Thailand), Cebu and the Visayan Islands (Philippines), Bali (Indonesia) and Siargao (Philippines).

Phu Quôc has received numerous accolades from the global tourism community this year. Three months ago, the popular travel magazine Travel + Leisure named it the second best island in the world, after the Maldives. Additionally, DestinAsian magazine, a prestigious travel and lifestyle magazine for travel enthusiasts around the world, recognized Phu Quoc as one of the top 10 most beautiful beach destinations in Asia.

The island has grown from a hidden gem to a famous destination thanks to significant investment in tourism infrastructure with many top-notch resorts. It also offered visitors various fascinating activities, including the world’s longest non-stop three-rope cable car and high-end art exhibitions.

In the first nine months of this year, Phu Quoc Island welcomed more than 720,000 foreign arrivals, an increase of 56% compared to the same period in 2023 and exceeding the annual plan of 8.6%.

The island has welcomed visitors from more than 150 countries and territories, with many direct flights from the Republic of Korea, Malaysia, Thailand and Taiwan (China). From October, new airline routes connecting the island to Hong Kong (China), Singapore and several countries in Eastern Europe and Central Asia will come into service.

The island should welcome around a hundred international flights per week during the end-of-year tourist season, an increase of 25% year-on-year.
