[PHOTOS] The Lamentin crocodile resurfaces

While jogging, as is often the case on Sunday mornings, in the Place d’Armes district in Lamentin, Vincent Guilgaut notices that the river has overflowed at the level of the shopping center car park, due to the heavy rains which are currently falling on our island.

He is therefore getting ready to take some photos of the rising waters, frequent at this place, but still quite impressive.

It is then that he realizes that on the surface floats a … crocodile. At first, the man cannot believe his eyes, he thinks of a joke:

I stood looking at him for several minutes, we looked at each other and I got closer and closer to take some pictures and at the last picture, with a swipe of the tail, he left. It was rather impressive, I was taken aback to see such an animal here.

The man, a metropolitan living in Martinique for two years, was ignorant of the legend surrounding this unusual animal presence in the Lézarde River. On her return, her neighbor is incredulous and even at the sight of the photos, she believes in a montage.

Vincent Guilgaut defends himself against any attempt to duck:

I still took a photo showing the Leclerc store behind to prove that it was not a montage. I’ve been here for two years, I’m on the metro, I have no interest, I have no story to tell. When we see the head, we imagine the body, we see that the head besides, I saw that the head, I tell myself that it is a beast which must be not far from two meters, it is really a beautiful specimen! No, it was really a funny meeting!

The man says he was not afraid but after this unexpected face-to-face, he agrees that he will think twice now before crossing the small rivers in the area. Listen to his testimony:
