New York woke up this Thursday with the largest accumulation of snow recorded in several years as a result of a storm that hit much of the east coast of the United States with force.
In the Big Apple they fell around 25 centimeters of snow, more than in all of last winter, and the rains still continued on Thursday morning, although according to meteorologists the worst of the storm is over.

The mayor of the city, Bill de Blasio, assured that the amount of snow registered in the last 24 hours was the highest since January 2016.
In some areas of the north of the state, more than a meter of snow was accumulated, according to the authorities.
The New York schools were closed this Thursday, with all the students in remote classes, but it was expected that they could reopen on Friday, according to De Blasio at a press conference.
Snow and strong winds hit much of the US east coast in a south-north direction, including many of its major cities such as Philadelphia and Boston, and continued to leave significant rainfall in the New England region.
Bad weather affected the transports in the entire area, with more than 1,700 flights canceled on Thursday in the United States, according to the air traffic portal Flightaware, and with limitations in the number of trains that connect several large cities and their suburbs.
Snow also caused numerous accidents on the roads, including one with two fatalities in Pennsylvania and another in New York City that left half a dozen people hospitalized.
The authorities of several states, for the second day in a row, asked to avoid non-essential travel.
“I have visited several areas today and I tell them that it is not safe. They should not be out there if they do not have to be,” said the governor of the state of New York, Andrew Cuomo.
“There are many problems that are slowing down the snowplows and the staff, who have been working for many hours. Everyone is very tired,” added Cuomo, who declared a state of emergency in 18 counties.
Among the fears facing this storm, the possibility that it could affect the distribution of coronavirus vaccines, which began to be administered in the United States this week, but according to the New York governor, for now, no major problems have been detected in that area.
