In the near future these submarines will carry Tsirkón anti-ship hypersonic cruise missiles.

The Sevmash shipyards, in the northern Russian city of Severodvinsk, launched the Krasnoyarsk, a new fourth-generation serial nuclear submarine, belonging to the improved Yasen-M project, into the water on Friday. communicated the Russian Defense Ministry.

Now it will be subjected to navigation tests by the company itself, during which the operation of its equipment and the satisfactory fulfillment of the assigned characteristics will be verified in real conditions. Then there will come another stage of testing by state agencies.

The statement does not specify when that ship will be delivered to the Navy, but previous information estimated that it could happen next year.

It is the fourth submarine in the Yasen project and the third in the improved 885 Yasen-M project, the most advanced in Russia. The Yasen-class attack ships are also the quietest in the Russian submarine fleet.

In addition to a solid arsenal of torpedoes and cruise missiles, they will soon be equipped with hypersonic cruise missiles of the Tsirkón anti-ship type, with a speed of 8 Mach.

The Sevmash shipyard is building five more nuclear submarines within the Yasen-M project.
