Photos: PSV honors Willy van der Kuijlen in the greatest way

sport">In the presence of his wife, children and grandchildren, the career and life of Van der Kuilen was discussed. There were speeches by former goalkeeper Hans van Breukelen and former PSV manager Kees Ploegsma. “And then 35,000 men shout: Skiete Willy! As hard as you can ”, former PSV player and singer-songwriter Björn van der Doelen sang in honor of the club icon.

sport">PSV posted a beautiful video on Twitter with an ode to the greatest PSV player ever. The farewell service was broadcast live via the club’s website.

sport">Helmonder Van der Kuijlen is the top scorer of all time in the Eredivisie with 311 goals (308 for PSV and 3 for MVV). He played no fewer than 528 league games for PSV for which he held various positions after his active career. A statue of Van der Kuijlen has stood at the stadium for years.

sport">On Saturday evening, the Eindhoven team played the Eredivisie match against FC Groningen for the first time again with about 4000 spectators. The death of Van der Kuijlen was also discussed around the match.
