Photos Freeze Bulgaria as Brutal Revelations Emerge on Murder in Dimitrovgrad

In front of the court, the accused cried several times and stated that he always wanted good for his family

27-year-old Angel Georgiev, accused of murdering his 71-year-old father, received the heaviest remand measure, “detention in custody”. It was imposed on him by judge Stratimir Dimitrov of the District Court – Haskovo today, writes Haskovo.NET.

We remind you that on March 23, 2023, a domestic dispute occurred between the two men in their home on “3rd March” Boulevard in Dimitrovgrad.

According to acquaintances, they quarreled because the son asked his father Dimitar for money. During the prevention, the young man beat his father, who was hospitalized the same day for treatment, where he died on March 26.

A review of Angel’s remand revealed that he had punched his dad in the face and body. The possible mechanism of injury was jumping with the feet on the body, which resulted in a fracture of the spine and subsequent death.

He told the investigators that he did not remember, although after the beating he told his relatives and even went to the police himself.

The defender of the accused – lawyer Angel Angelov requested that his client be placed under house arrest. The lawyer presented medical documents to the court and explained that the accused was ill and requested that a forensic medical examination be appointed to determine whether his health condition would worsen in custody.

The accused stated that he had an inflammation of the genitals and was in severe pain. He even went for treatment and research in Germany, where his 19-year-old girlfriend also lived.

In the end, Judge Dimitrov rejected the request at this stage, as he considered that from the presented medical documents it is clear that the disease is not life-threatening.

Before the court, the accused Angel cried several times. He stated that he always wanted good for his family. He had dreams and wanted to move forward. He was not a bad person and always helped people. “I love my father. I have no such intentions,” said the son.

The prosecutor in the case, Pavel Zhekov, insisted that the accused be left in custody. He pointed out that there is evidence in the case that Angel had previously behaved aggressively towards his father.

In the end, Judge Dimitrov granted his request. According to the magistrate, the case lacks direct evidence that Angel killed his father, but there is enough indirect evidence. It also considered that there was a danger that he would abscond and commit another crime.

The decision is subject to appeal before the Plovdiv Court of Appeal within 3 days.
