A B1 Centauro, an armored fighting vehicle of the Italian Army, was participating in military drills this Wednesday when, by apparent error, it destroyed a chicken coop with all its birds inside with a powerful shot. reports Reuters. The incident took place on the outskirts of Vivaro, a town in the northern Pordenone province of the country, close to a military shooting range.
At first, the military did not realize what happened, since the shot did not produce flames. Furthermore, the owners of the farm did not find out what happened until Thursday morning, when they saw the magnitude of the damage and found the remains of numerous birds scattered throughout the area.
Meanwhile, the Pordenone City Prosecutor’s Office opened an investigation into the matter and seized the vehicles involved in the exercises. The investigation should clarify why the military fired in the direction of the town, when the area reserved for shooting is in the opposite direction.
