Photographs from the balconies fill the facade of the Logroño City Hall

The Logroño City Council hosts the exhibition with a selection of images of the residents of Logroño from the # PHEdesdemibalcón call, within the XXIII edition of PHotoESPAÑA. It is a collective project that has invited citizens to photograph from their balconies and windows during confinement. A total of 581 Riojans have participated, of them, 388 are from Logroño

The International Festival of Photography and Visual Arts, PhotoEspaña, launched this initiative with which citizens have explored their photographic creativity with images taken from their windows and balconies. A jury of experts has selected a total of 2,450 photographs, which are the ones that are exposed outdoors in their respective cities. Furthermore, thanks to the support of ACCIONA, the 10 best photographs have received a prize of 500 euros each. Logroño is lucky in this regard because one of the winning photos stays here, it is an image of the photographer Teresa Aquesolo.

Thus, the windows of the Logroño Town Hall house images taken from the inside to be enjoyed, during the summer, from an outside perspective. “It is thus about making possible a tribute to the common effort and giving an opportunity to share collectively and from the outside, each of the individual views”, has affirmed the mayor, Pablo Hermoso de Mendoza.

This exhibition, together with others that are held in different cities, marks the starting gun for PHotoESPAÑA 2020, during the month of June, and also marks the beginning of an edition that will take place during the summer and until the end of September.

The photographic call # PHEdesdemibalcón, launched on March 30, closed on Sunday, May 17 with more than 63,000 images on Instagram and 36,201 participations registered on the Festival’s website.
