On the eve of Children’s Day, the Mercedino Photographers group carried out a solidarity activity: they set up two studios on the corner of the House of Culture so that families could take a souvenir in exchange for a toy, which will be donated to canteens in the city. To set the scene, they brought a rack with superhero and princess costumes, and placed armchairs and lights so that the captures were perfect.
The initiative began this Saturday at 3:30 p.m. and ended after 6:30 p.m. “Although the weather was not very good, because it was cloudy and quite cool, little by little they got closer. Most had seen the advertising on social networks,” said Gonzalo Lucero, one of the association’s member photographers.
He explained that they meet every month and in the last meeting the idea of doing something for society came up. “We constantly see posts on Instagram or Facebook from picnic areas and dining rooms that ask for collaboration to celebrate Children’s Day, so we decided to do this,” she detailed. And he added that they will try to help one or two neighborhood entities.
In the eighth of Urquiza and Pedernera they placed lined boxes so that the citizens could leave their collaboration there. On the internal part that faces the building, they prepared, with a black fabric the background, lights on the sides and armchairs. Next to it they put a gray cloth so that the photograph has a professional studio effect. “We digitized them and uploaded them to the pages of Casa de la Cultura and Fotografos Mercedinos, then people should look for them there and there will be a link so they can download and have them. And whoever wants to can print them,” said Daniel Riscosa, another of the group’s professionals.
They evaluate repeating the activity on August 20 to be able to help more than one neighborhood kitchen.
In addition, they mentioned that they are considering repeating the activity on Saturday, August 20, the day before the date established to celebrate the little ones.
“We don’t want to superimpose activities on top of those that are already scheduled and since it’s next weekend, we think that people will be more focused on those things,” he added.
Eugenia Silva was one of the people who brought her two children to participate in the crusade. “We always try to collaborate on these proposals. Even though it was cool, we used it as an incentive to get out of the house. It’s very nice what they organized, that’s why I didn’t hesitate to come with my family and we took a photo of the four “, Said the woman, who also attended with her partner.
The little ones were excited about the outfits they found on the rack, but not all of them wanted to wear them. “I really liked the photo, it came out beautiful and I’m going to print it and put it in a photo frame at home. In addition, they gave us a little bag with sweets as a thank you. It’s a nice present,” said Agustín Ganzer, a boy who posed with his brother on the soft seats.
The group is made up of Gastón Sosa, Martín Chicahuala, Sergio Godoy, Gonzalo Lucero and Daniel Riscosa. Everyone took turns participating in the project and highlighted that they have the collaboration of other photographer colleagues from other towns and provinces who replicate the initiatives that arise from Villa Mercedes.
