In 1953, Robert Doisneau came to Chartres to immortalize, in black and white as well as in color, the creator of the house of Picassiette, Raymond Isidore.
Seventy years later, Francine Deroudille, the daughter of the famous photographer, inaugurated this Wednesday evening an exhibition entitled In the eyes of Picplatewhich the public will be able to see from June 1.
Terrace, shop, exhibition… La Maison Picassiette in Chartres, conquering new audiences
Twenty-two photos have been reproduced in the form of panels and planted in the gardens of the residence, which is classified as a historic monument. These giant portraits are accompanied, on the back, by reflections, poems and maxims by Raymond Isidore.
“These are unexpected sentences that I discover, there is even one that is feminist! », is surprised Francine Deroudille.
Present at the opening this Wednesday evening, the mayor of Chartres, Jean-Pierre-Gorges, revealed that he was going to “sanctuarize the site, in order to preserve what Raymond Isidore saw”, without yet giving precise deadlines.
