Nearly 200 people took part in the recognition activity for photographer Pierre Rochette on September 17.
The surprise ceremony was organized by the Corporation Lumière image de Charlevoix (CLIC) and more precisely by Caroline Léna Tremblay and Donald Lavoie.
Ms. Tremblay had this idea because she wanted to highlight the involvement of her friend Pierre Rochette, a present, dynamic and active man who knew how to support many Charlevoisians at one point or another in their lives.
Most of the mayors and many municipal councilors were also present to highlight his work.
An exhibition, which demonstrates the extent of his talent, is presented at Havre de La Malbaie thanks to the collaboration of Sara Tremblay, responsible for communications at the City of La Malbaie. The photo exhibition is entitled Charlevoix is in the west, Photo Pierre Rochette just like the photographer’s website. You can see his best photos there, including that of the former President of the United States, Donald Trump, captured at the G7 summit.
The main person involved was also very surprised to see that so many people had come for him to the Havre de La Malbaie park on Sunday.
“I was really very moved and I still am. My family, my friends and many elected officials were present. It’s a great recognition of my work. I chose the photos for the exhibition, but I thought it would be a joint exhibition with my photographer friend Donald Lavoie. He got me well,” confided Pierre Rochette with a laugh.
The guests then enjoyed a brunch at the Rivière-Malbaie Recreation Center. The mayor of La Malbaie Michel Couturier and the mayor of Saint-Urbain Claudette Simard paid tribute to him. Several members of his family and friends also told some anecdotes.
Furthermore, the MP for Beauport—Côte-de-Beaupré—Île d’Orléans—Charlevoix, Caroline Desbiens, took advantage of this opportunity to present him with a “Lily of Caroline” and an honorary certificate.
“For more than 40 years, Pierre has photographed large and small events. In fact, he depicts the humans of his region. Pierre, my friend, thank you for your smile, your eternal good humor and the contribution to the memory of Charlevoix! », commented Ms. Desbiens.
