“We noticed a post on social networks that the young people of Carnikava elementary school are asking to donate books to the school library. Taking into account that the children of soldiers serving in the military base “Adaži” study in schools of Đadaži district, we decided to start collecting funds for the purchase of books and board games in Carnikava elementary school. We also invited soldiers to donate unused ones games, books. Allied soldiers were actively involved in the project,” says Eva Rešņa, public relations specialist of the Mechanized Infantry Brigade of the Land Forces.
“Soldiers of the Italian contingent organized a pizza-baking event, during which funds were donated to this project. Thanks to the response of the allied soldiers, a total of 2,900 euros were collected, with which it was decided to also support the Đadaži primary school with the purchase of books. The Carnikava school was provided with reading books, board games and Latvian classical literature books “Zelta zirgs”, “Staburaga pärvi”, “Maija and Paija” in several copies, thus promoting reading skills in school hours. The soldiers made entries in the books in Latvian, Spanish and English with good wishes for the young readers,” stresses Rešņa.
The soldiers serving in the military base “Ādaži” are regularly involved in charity projects not only by collecting donations, but also by physical work and providing assistance!
