To give an insight into how works are created and how yoga unlocks creativity in yourself, visitors were involved in a small yoga class at the opening of the exhibition.

Drawing and painting happen spontaneously, says E. Branta. And just like that – sing, dance, meditate.

The exhibition is introduced by Gint Karazin’s paintings, they decorate the walls of the foyer of the association’s building. And the photos show Evie in action – playing musical instruments, such as a crystal lyre. It was also possible to hear him at the opening of the show.

The author of the pictures says that the pictures were taken this summer near Lielbātas spring and Pūsēni hill. In fact, there was much more than eight that could be seen.

“We also took pictures in Bernatis, but in the end we stayed with those, because they seemed to suit the majority.”

Talking about the content of the images, the author emphasizes that he was more like an observer. “The focus is on Evie, what she does and how I see it from the outside.

G. Karazin’s hobby is photography, he is an engineer and designer by profession.

Creativity is the result of yoga practices – says E. Branta about the creation of the exhibition.

She started learning to paint 20 years ago, before learning yoga. In your profile on Facebook she says she studied in Riga with the artist Terēze Zaķe. On the other hand, she studied art history with art scholar and pedagogue Guntars Zakis.

“For five years I went to learn to paint in his studio, I copied artists with pictures. I learned hypothesis because I like it. In my free time, I also paint in the house myself. Later, when I started doing yoga more intensively, there was no time left for painting.”

When covid started to dictate its rules and in 2019 he is no longer allowed to do yoga classes because of the strict rules, E. Branta spent most of her time at home and started drawing a lot together to her son.

“I felt while I was drawing, especially when we were painting with gouache, that I released the accumulated emotions and tension from myself.

That’s how I understood myself. It was a way for me to express the accumulated energy, because at that time there was really no place to share the creative spirit, the inspiration and the joy, as I often do when which I lead yoga classes. It seemed that all this “exploded” on paper and created pleasant feelings. “

Drawing and painting happen spontaneously, Evie does not think in advance what she will create, but even if she does, something else still emerges as a result. “I can only draw when I’m inspired,” Evie said.

She calls her work a creative reflection. “It’s more intuitive and feeling work than brain work and drawing skills.”

The exhibition “Creative Meditations” can be seen until August 31.
