The official video for the song “Eat Your Salad” by the group “Other Boys” has premiered. In seven weeks, the band will represent Latvia at the 66th International Eurovision Song Contest in Turin, Italy.

The plot of the video “Eat Your Salad” is cleverly formed and supplemented with references to the style of the seventies, TV shows, as well as Bollywood dance steps. In the video, TV personalities Beta Bõigu (Beāte Bērziņa), Marģers Majors, Edgars Bāliņš, as well as the dance ensemble “Daiļrade” have also played various roles in the video.
The director of the video is Niklāvs Vētra, the creative producers are Mārtiņš Goldbergs and Elīna Sargune, but the editing and cinematography was done by Ritvars Bluka. The artist Diāna Rābante participated in the creation of the clip and Beāte Svarinska created the video choreography. The video was created with the support of Live Riga.
The video of the performance of the song “Eat Your Salad” from the national selection – the Latvian Television Song Contest “Supernova” – has exceeded one million views on the “Youtube” platform, as well as on the music platform “Spotify” the song has been listened to more than a million times. The song has also gained considerable sympathy in international charts, having been among the most popular songs in Sweden, Finland and other countries by Spotify for several weeks.
“The video is filled with humorous references to Eurovision, different European cultures, as well as popular music trends,” describes the band’s soloist Jānis Pētersons. “We deliberately designed it in the aesthetics of a hippie time to make viewers feel like the video is taking them back to another decade.”
Commenting on the filming process, Toms Kagainis would like to say: “In general, this is our grandest music video in the history of“ Other Boys ”- both in terms of the number of participants and the overall complexity. However, Eurovision is the biggest musical event of the year in the world, so it seemed only right to create a clip as a challenge for yourself. ”
“Eurovision and the preparations for it have taken over our entire daily lives. The goals are high, so we do not regret ourselves and our energy. I think we will surprise Europe with something uncharacteristic of Latvia, ”bassist and producer Roberts Memmēns describes the group’s readiness for the Eurovision Song Contest. “Latvia has to return to the finals of the competition, so we are doing everything we can to make it a success this year,” says saxophonist Dagnis Roziņš.
The group “Other Boys” consists of Jānis Pētersons (vocals), Dagnis Roziņš (vocals and saxophone), Reinis Višķeris (keyboards), Krišjānis Ozols (guitar), Roberts Memmēns (bass) and Toms Kagainis (drums).
The group “Other Boys” will perform in the first semifinals on May 10 at the 66th International Eurovision Song Contest in Turin, Italy. Albania, Switzerland, Slovenia, Bulgaria, Moldova, Ukraine, Lithuania, the Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, Denmark, Armenia, Austria, Croatia, Iceland and Greece will also take part. The second semi-final of Eurovision will take place on May 12, the final – on May 14.
