Tourism entrepreneur Alejandro Zozaya, founder of AMResorts and former president of Apple Leisure Group (ALG), received the 2022 Tourism Leadership Award from the National Tourism Business Council (CNET) for his contribution to the development of the tourism sector in Mexico.
The Tourism Leadership Award was created by CNET 10 years ago with the aim of recognizing and highlighting those who, as an entrepreneur and investor, in any of the branches that make up tourism, have distinguished themselves through their ethics, dedication to work, vision entrepreneurial and commitment to Mexico.
Braulio Arsuaga, President of CNET, underlined that the award is an acknowledgment of the legacy he has left in the tourism sector in Mexico, “in particular, it fills me with pride to have the opportunity to deliver this acknowledgment, since Alex is “He was a great promoter of tourism in Mexico and personally a great friend. His performance as a member of the WTTC and in the position of Vice President of CNET has promoted several strategies in the service of our industry.”
During the delivery ceremony, Alejandro Zozaya, who is also Vice President of CNET, thanked him for the recognition bestowed on him by the leadership of the tourism sector, which brings together the most important investors in the country.
“Receiving this award is an honor, especially if we see who has already received this award, tourism giants, and for me it is an honor to be able to get here,” he said.
Zozaya was Executive Chairman of ALG and founder of AMResorts. He has thirty years of experience in the tourism sector, which has allowed him to develop global synergies between the leading brands in the tourism and hospitality sector that make up the group.
In February 2018, he was appointed Vice President of CNET in Mexico and in August of the same year, he joined the Executive Committee of the World Travel & Tourism Council as Vice President for Latin America and the Caribbean.
He received the REPORTUR award in 2018, the title of “Hotelier of the Year” awarded by Alta Hotelería, and CNN Expansión has positioned him among the “100 most important and influential businessmen in Mexico” for 12 consecutive years. In 2019 he was recognized by Asonahores as “Dominican Tourism Champion” for his unwavering commitment to strengthening tourism in the Dominican Republic.
